AP Cabinet approves Visakha Metro project

In the Cabinet meeting today, presided by the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up Rayalaseema steel corporation on the public-private partnership to set up Kadapa steel plant on its own. The Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation will extend financial assistance. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation for Kadapa steel plant in a month. Mr P. Madhusudan is appointed as temporary CMD of Rayalaseema Steel Corporation.

AP State Cabinet decided to develop Visakha metro on public-private partnership at a stretch of 42.55 km in three corridors. The cabinet has decided to get financial assistance from different organisations for the 8,300 Cr metro project.

The cabinet also decided to write three letters to Prime Minister and Home Minister on the pending bifurcation assurances and against the amount of Rs 350 Cr sanctioned for backward regions and later taken back by the Central government. The third letter on Central government’s failure to extend assistance to Titli cyclone victims in Srikakulam district.

The cabinet condemned the central government's behaviour towards Titli cyclone damage in Srikakulam district. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu camped in Srikakulam district for one week and monitored the relief operations personally and restored normalcy in the district and distributed cheques to cyclone victims towards crop and assets loss.

The cabinet decided to allot 2,395.98 acres of land to APIIC free of cost for development of Donakonda Mega Industrial Hub. The Government of Andhra Pradesh will stand guarantee for a loan of Rs 3,283 Cr for AP Fibernet for upgradation of fibrenet at a stretch of 24,000 km and providing internet facility to all regions.

Panchayat Raj department was asked to implement protected drinking water projects in Kadapa, Kurnool, Anantapur, Chittoor and Nellore districts at a cost of Rs 9,400 Cr.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to set up Anna Charitable Trust to accept donations from donors. It also decided to open another 152 Anna canteens in the state.

The Cabinet accorded administrative sanction for Rs 6,000 cr to develop urban critical infrastructure in the State.
