Under the leadership of a true visionary who believes that water security is the key to the development of a State, CM Chandrababu Naidu is always ahead in undertaking projects and programs to bring awareness about the water challenges the State is facing. On a mission to mitigate the issues AP government came up with 54 irrigation projects across the State as listed below,

Inaugurated Projects

1. Purshothapatnam Lift Scheme at Jaggampeta :

This 1,638-crore two-phased project is contemplated for lifting 30 TMC of Godavari waters into Polavaram Left Main Canal and to Yeleru Reservoir for the creation of new ayacut of 1,47,386 acres and stabilisation of 67,614 acres and also to meet the drinking water and industrial needs of Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and North Andhra.

2. Narasapuram anicut across the Sarada river :

This project in Visakhapatnam district facilitates the creation of new ayacut of 3,480 acres, benefiting the nearby 12 villages by interlinking the existing two channels. This anicut also saved three villages from the floods.

3. Pogonda Reservior across Baineru Rivulet, West Godavari Dist. :

This has been constructed on Upstream side of Bandhakattu anicut with an estimated cost of Rs 129 crore to supply water to 4,000 acres of new ayacut belonging to 1500 numbers of Tribal and 1000 numbers of non-Tribal families.

4. Modernization of Yerracalva reservoir project :

The total inflow on downstream of this reservoir is worked out to 60,000 cusecs, but the carrying capacity of the river course is only 5000 Cusecs, resulting in thousands of acres of ayacut getting submerged. To mitigate this, the carrying capacity is proposed to be increased from 5000 C/s to 20250 C/s by way of modernization with Rs 143.15 crores. 34,364 acres of ayacut in West Godavari district is getting relief from inundation and 30 villages of 6 mandals around are benefited by this project.

5. Kandaleru Left Canal - Lift Scheme:

This project facilitates stabilisation of ayacut to an extent of 20,700 Acres in upland areas of Podalakur, Chejarla and Venkatachalam mandals in SPSR Nellore Dist. The K.R Left canal is being fed by high-level sluice constructed at Km 0.990 of K.R Dam with a silt level of +74.000 M with a head discharge of 323 cusecs, benefitting 32 villages under Chejarla, Podalakur, Nellore Rural and Venkatachalam Mandals.

6. Gandikota – CBR Lifts:

This scheme is meant for transfer of 8.30 TMC of water to Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir by 5 lifts. An extent of 59,400 acres of new ayacut is going to be fed from Lingala canal and 36,900 Acres from Pulivendula Branch Canal through this scheme. It is made possible to supply water to 1,08,300 Acres ayacut by micro-irrigation method through lifts in 5 phases.

7. Muchumarri lift scheme:

This is constructed at Muchumarri to supply drinking water to HNSS canal in summer season even though water level is below 254 m or 834 fts in the Srisailam reservoir. Out of 16 pumps,12 pumps allocated to HNSS canal and remaining 4 pumps allocated to K.C canal, lifting 1.50 TMC of water this year.

8. Sri Budda Vengala Reddy Siddapuram Lift Irrigation Scheme:

This project facilitates the creation of new ayacut to an extent 20,300 acres and stabilisation of ayacut to an extent of 1000 acres in 12 villages under Atmakur and Pamulapadu Mandals of Kurnool District. Water will be supplied by lifting 2.00 TMC of water from foreshore of Velugodu Balancing Reservoir of Telugu Ganga Project @ 200 C/s in 120 days to Siddapuram Tank of capacity 0.645 TMC to be filled 3 times.

Projects ready for inauguration

1. Gorukallu Balancing Reservoir :

This 530.96 Crores project is proposed to utilise 38 TMC of flood water from Srisailam reservoir to supply irrigation to 4.79 lakhs acres and drinking water to 10 lakhs people in Kadapa, Ananthapuram, Nellore, Chittoor Districts. This project facilitates stabilization of ayacut to an extent of 1,90,000 Acres. In this Khariff season, 7.74 TMC of water is stored in this reservoir.
2. Owk Tunnel:

This 451.82 Crs project is a part of GNSS Phase-I which facilitates to supply water from Gorakallu Reservoir through GNSS flood flow canal to Owk Reservoir and from there to Gandikota Reservoir and from there to various reservoirs in Kadapa district to meet irrigation, drinking water and industrial requirements.

3. Pulikanuma Lift Irrigation Scheme:

Pulikanuma Lift Irrigation scheme is one of the lift irrigation Schemes under Guru Raghavendra project. Pulikanuma Lift Irrigation scheme is proposed to lift 1.637 TMC of water from Tungabhadra River, to bridge the gap between the ayacut of 26,400 acres (3,000 acres wet & 23,400 acres ID) situated beyond KM 270.00 of TBP LLC System.

4. Pedapalem LI Scheme on Krishna River:

It is proposed to draw 29.28 cusecs of water from River Krishna by constructing head works on the right bank of the river near Chinthapalli village to carry the designed discharge with 900 mm dia PSC pipes to a length of 11,600 m by erecting 3No’s of V.T. The villages benefitted under the scheme are Pedapalem, Chigurupadu and Chamarru of Atchampeta Mandal IN Guntur Dt.

5. Chinasana LI Scheme :

It is proposed on Vamsadhara left the main canal near Chinasana village of Srikakulam District. This scheme facilitates the creation of new ayacut to an extent of 2,200 Acres of Khariff Wet benefiting 9 villages around.

2. Interlinking of Rivers Vamsadhara and Nagavali Rivers (to Release water to High-Level Canal from Hiramandalam Reservoir)

Cost of the project : Rs 84.90 Crores
Target set for completion : July 2018
3. Offshore Reservoir Project On Mahendratanaya River

Cost of the project : Rs 466.28 Crores
Target set for completion : September 2018
4. Taraka Rama Thirtha Sagaram Reservoir Project

Cost of the project : Rs 471.31 Crores
Target set for completion : June 2019
5. Babu Jagjeevan Ram Uttarandhra Sujala sravanthi Project

Cost of the project : Rs.2022.20 Crores
Target set for completion : August 2019.
6. High level canal from Hiramandalam Reservoir to Ichapuram

Cost of the project : Rs.1050.00 Crores
Target set for completion : June 2020
7. Modernisation of existing Left and Right canal system of Thotapalli old Canal system

After getting approval from Government, survey and investigation will be taken up for preparation of detailed Project report.

Target set for completion : August 2018
9. Kondaveeti Vagu Pumping Scheme

Cost of the project : Rs 237 Crores
