The officials informed the Chief Minister that the main works of the cofferdam, spill channel and approach channel will be completed by the end of April. The main contractors of Polavaram project Navayuga Engineering Company Limited informed the Chief Minister that they are going to set a world record in executing a major quantity of concrete works per day. The Chief Minister said that officials should maintain records to establish world records in speedy completion of project works.
Earlier the Chief Minister enquired the officials over the damage of the roads near the project. The officials informed that there was no earthquake recorded at the Polavaram and its surrounding areas on Saturday. “The cracks and gaps that appeared on the roads near the project are only due to the evaporation of moisture in the soil and environment. Concerned authorities have been monitoring the developments at the project site keenly,” informed the officials.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to invite soil testing experts to examine the reasons for the damage. He also directed the officials to submit a detailed report on the damage of the roads.
The Chief Minister directed the Tourism officials to prepare proposals to make the Polavaram an international tourism destination.
